With USSD service , all airtel users will be able to update their status on facebook for free of cost and with additional Rs.1 per day will be able to access their comment, Likes , news feeds, post on walls, confirm friend requests, find and add friends, and view notifications.

Now lets understand what is USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) ?

It is quite similar to SMS system but the difference is that SMS is transaction based and USSD is session based service protocol. USSD has an highly speedy response compared to SMS service. And thus USSD is better suited for content-based and interactive applications and services. It gives feel similar to menu based browsing.  Its an unique technology in GSM system of mobile communication where it transmits data via signal channels. The USSD service which is used by airtel at present is Fonetwish based and is developed by U2opia Mobile.

Mr. Henri Moissinac, Head of Mobile Business, Facebook said that they always try to innovate the facebook service for mobile users and try to keep it more simple and easy to access. Airtel USSD service to access facebook will be an really great service for the mobile facebook users to use facebook in different way.

Dial *325# (and “*fbk#” for non-qwerty mobile handsets)

A menu will appear of different choices as presented in the image above. Do proper selection and its done.

    2> It will show you a message:
    Welcome to facebook by fonetwish. Your request has been accepted. We will send you menu shortly. Please exit this message.
    3> If you are using this for the first time, then it will ask for your username and password.
    If you have already logged in it will display you menu.
    4> Menu

    3 Post on Wall
    4 Friend Request
    5 Notifications
    * Account Setting
    5> You can update your status for free (option 2).
    6> If you select any of the option from 1,3,4,5; the following message will be displayed:
