The users of Facebook are increasing day by day all over the globe, now we all know an common thing that which ever site which has got high amount of user is always targeted by the Smart Hackers. Now let us discuss the security level of facebook, if you are using facebook via wi-fi and someone who is very smart and wanna attack on your facebook can do it easily. Actually there are tools like Firesheep which lets the hackers to obtain the details of the data transmission going on with an particular wi-fi connection. That is suppose if you are accessing facebook via public wi-fi then the hacker can easily decode the data transmission going on between you laptop and the wi-fi router and thus can get the password and thus your account can be hacked easily.
But now doing the same is highly difficult , because facebook now supports https (http along with SSL) – an highly secure transmission protocol system. So now if you have activated the https in your facebook account it will establish an secure line between your computer or laptop to the ISP server. Thus if some one crooked who is able to access the data transmission between your system and isp can’t decrpyt the info.
It’s because of SSL ( Secured Socket Line ) , that is it establishes an secure connection between your system and the ISP. So when you access any website supporting https , the data between your system and isp gets encrypted and only the web server whose website you are accessing can decrypt it. Thats why all the e-commerce website are powered with https connection.
So now how to enable Https connection system in your facebook account ?
To activate https in facebook logon to your account settings there select account security and in account security select the https connection option .
Thats it , you have done.
Note:
https support is not enabled for all accounts all over the world, if you don’t find https support in your account then just for few days facebook will roll out soon for you too.
After enabling https connection you may feel little discomfort, as it will reduce the browsing speed along with the user friendly environment.
At present not all the applications in facebook do support https so after enabling https you will not be able to use many of the facebook apps.
